Milan ease into last eight with win in Moscow

AC Milan secured a place in the Champions League quarter-finals with a comfortable 1-0 win over Lokomotiv Moscow in their second phase Group C match on Tuesday.

Brazil striker Rivaldo calmly slotted home a 34th-minute penalty after Lokomotiv defender Vadim Yevseyev was judged to have held down Filippo Inzaghi as the Italians maintained a 100 percent record in the group with a fourth consecutive 1-0 win.

Milan, on 12 points, lead defending European champions Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, who play later on Tuesday in Germany, by eight and nine points respectively.

Lokomotiv, who had trouble breaking down a stubborn Milan defence on an unseasonably mild Moscow night, remain rooted to the bottom of the group with just a point from four games.
