Milan chiefs settle on Real Madrid's Makelele

AC Milan will join the bidding for Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele at the end of the season.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter Milan are also expected to make offers for the Frenchman, who will be put up for sale by Real in the summer.

Milan will press for Makelele as they prepare to shake-up their midfield over the off-season.

Rino Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini and Clarence Seedorf could all be sold.

Milan chiefs rate the Frenchman very highly and see the tactical nous of Makelele as a valuable asset.
