Milan chief bids to beat Man Utd, Arsenal for Makelele

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has made a fresh approach to Real Madrid regarding midfielder Claude Makelele.

Also a prime target for Manchester United and Arsenal, Makelele will be sold in the summer by Real - possibly for a knockdown fee of just £4 million.

Galliani is hoping to use his friendship with Real president Florentino Perez to trump his English rivals.

However, Makelele has expressed a desire to play in the Premiership and his agent has reportedly already held talks with United this season.
