Mijatovic Plans To Quit Real Madrid Before Being Sacked

Real Madrid 's sporting director, Pedja Mijatovic, isn’t too keen on suffering the humiliation of being given the axe by the incoming regime, which will be voted into office at the June elections.

According to Sport, Mijatovic is aware that his services are unlikely to be retained by the new administration regardless of which presidential candidate takes over at the club. As such, he will hand in his resignation in the coming weeks before the end of the campaign.

With ex-president Ramon Calderon long gone, Mijatovic has become the number one scapegoat at the club and he has grown tired of being peppered with abuse and threats. His situation will only become more intolerable should Madrid stumble in their remaining four league games, even though the team have all but secured at least second spot in the Primera Division and guaranteed automatic Champions League qualification.

Following the cataclysmic defeat to Barcelona at the weekend, for example, Mijatovic bore the full brunt of the incensed Bernabeu faithful when a number of fans followed him to the stadium parking lot and hurled insults at the 40-year-old.

In addition, he is also wary of being audited when the accounts are reviewed and closed at the end of the season. Having spent hundreds of millions in player transfers and other sporting activities since taking up the role back in 2006, the Montenegrin wants to leave office now to avoid damaging his image as a sports agent.
