Mijatovic battling to hang onto Real Madrid job

Real Madrid sports chief Pedja Mijatovic is battling to hang onto his job, it has been revealed.

DiarioSport says Mijatovic will be shown the door at the end of the season after becoming increasingly isolated at Real this season.

Disappointed with Mijatovic's signings such as Royston Drenthe - and the price paid for Pepe - Real's board has pressured president Ramon Calderon to make a change in the summer. Coach Bernd Schuster has never enjoyed a warm relationship with Mijatovic, where they have regularly argued over potential signings this season.

Calderon is ready to act and will hand more power to football director Miguel Angel Portugal, who urged the president to go for Ruud van Nistelrooy while he was still coach of Racing Santander two years ago.
