Miguel Torres has stated that despite Real Madrid's victory against Barcelona, the La Liga title race is still very much open going into the new year.
Speaking to Marca, Torres indicated that the title race in Spain is far from over in his opinion.
"There is good atmosphere, we are content and very happy, but we are conscious that if we relax then things can go badly," he said.
"We must continue in the same vein as a team and if in the end we obtain many titles, we will all be content."
Torres went on to describe the current good atmosphere at the club in more detail.
"These last months remind me of the youth team, arriving at the training and having friends. We spoke of everything and enjoyed the training."
"It is a great atmosphere that is reflected in the results and is the base around which a winning team obtains titles. And if to that you add the individual quality we have, we are speaking of a team that surely will give many joys to the madridismo."
He also spoke about Madrid's upcoming Copa Del Rey tie against Alicante, describing the importance that the competition holds to the players.
"By my situation I believe that the Copa Del Rey is fundamental. In fact, the game against Alicante is dangerous. They are playing well and are second in their league. They will make things difficult for us."
"To be able to win the Copa Del Rey is something beautiful, because winning titles is the best thing for any player."
Torres, 21, was the breakthrough young star at Real Madrid last year, playing excellently at left-back in their run to the league title. Although the arrivals of Gabriel Heinze and Royston Drenthe in the summer have limited his playing time this season, he's still content with life at Real Madrid, but is hoping for more playing time in 2008.
"To arrive in the first team and to be part of this group it is a dream for many," Torres declared. "For the next year I would request that everything continues the same, but that I could start more games. If we continue with this dynamic we can achieve great things."
