Midfield duo out of cup clash

Jose Maria Gutierrez and Claude Makelele may miss Wednesday's Copa del Rey trip to Gimnástic after suffering injuries at the weekend.

Real's Copa hero, more commonly known as Guti, missed Saturday's game at Tenerife after falling injured with a sprained ankle and although he has returned to the training ground, it is unlikely that he will be picked against Nástic.

Makelele is definitely ruled out on Wednesday, the French midfielder took a blow at Tenerife at the weekend and could even miss next Saturday's game against Real Sociedad.

Meanwhile, Steve McManaman will not be able to play again until early next year after sustaining a small fracture to his backbone in the last round against Lanzarote.
