Middlesbrough join race for Real Madrid star Figo

Middlesbrough are considering a sensational move for Real Madrid wing ace Luis Figo.
 
The Evening Gazette says Boro boss Steve McClaren is seriously considering moving for the Portugal international, who is expected to be granted a free transfer by Real president Florentino Perez.

"I have always had a desire to play in England," Figo said recently.

"It would be a dream for me but now no exit offers exist for me. I have not demanded my presence in the starting line-up during the last few matches," he added, responding to rumours that he'd laid down the law at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"My contract does not have an obligation for me to play. My absence is due to a technical decision."
