Middlesbrough boss McClaren: Too soon to think about signing Geremi

Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren has admitted it is too soon to make a decision on whether to sign midfielder Geremi outright.

The Cameroon international has been a major contributor to the Boro's early season success after arriving on Teesside on-loan from European champions Real Madrid.

Boro have the option of signing Geremi on a permanent transfer at the end of this season, but McClaren insists he isn't going to jump the gun over the classy midfielder.

"A year ago I tried to sign the player, but the cost of his transfer was too high and there was also Chelsea involved, who were trying to get him on-loan," explained McClaren.

"We had the chance of bringing him in on-loan this season and we jumped at it."

"If he impresses then we have the option of signing him permanently, but even if both the club and the player are happy at the moment, it's still too early to make such a decision."
