Middlesbrough and Madrid Start Flavio Talks

Real Madrid and Middlesbrough have started negotiations over a deal for Brazilian midfielder Flavio Conceicao.

The Premiership side have held talks with the Spaniards' director of sport, Jorge Valdano, about a possible loan deal for the out-of-favour playmaker.

After missing out on Geremi, who moved from Madrid to Chelsea this week, Boro are hoping to snatch another of the Bernabeu side's unwanted stars.

The English club are hoping to hammer out a similar deal that saw Geremi spend a season on loan at the Riverside last term where both clubs shared the player's wages.

But Madrid have said that despite their initial asking price of €12million for the ex-Palmeiras and Deportivo man, he could be allowed to leave for much less.

The Spanish champions have a glut of midfield talent and have told the player that he is unlikely to be given many first team opportunities next season.
