Michel angry with Real Madrid coaching contract

Real Madrid legend Michel admits the club's contract offer was partly reason why he turned down a job with their Academy.

Michel was to join the youth system's coaching staff, but he revealed to AS: "The only financial offer that was made to me was not good. There also appeared a demand: take it or leave it. This has made me feel strange."

"And the responsibility I was to take on was to be a number two coach, but they offered to pay me as a number four."

"I couldn't accept that."

Michel, who is a popular football pundit in the Spanish media, added: "Eighty per cent of Florentino Perez's management has been excellent. But in the sports section, he has not done so well."

"Real Madrid is all about winning titles. If I had the chance to build a squad, it wouldn't be same one that is there now."
