Metzelder: Real Madrid Are Ready To Win Trophies

Christoph Metzelder could not contain his excitement at being part of the current Real Madrid squad and admitted that he would be over the moon if los Blancos could win the Champions League in their backyard next May.

"I believe this will be a special year, with the Champions League final in the Santiago Bernabeu. Personally it's the title I would prefer to win," the 28-year-old centre-back told La Sexta.

"I think Real Madrid's project is extraordinary. To set out a team with the best players in the world is a thing of great pride. The side is brilliant. Normally there is the possibility of buying a player like Kaka or Cristiano Ronaldo, but to be next to two in the same team is almost impossible."

"Manuel Pellegrini is a special sort of coach," he continued. "He loves to train in a strong and intense fashion, and the way he talks to players is different. However, we are still at a time where it is difficult to evaluate the work of the coach."

The former Borussia Dortmund defender also refuted claims that los Merengues needed time to gel, declaring that they would be hard to stop in their quest to win titles.

"Like every year, the objective of this club is to win everything. I believe that with the strength of this team and the coach, we are ready to succeed," he concluded.
