Real Madrid defender Ferland Mendy has recovered from the serious injury he suffered late in the 2025-26 season and rejoined the squad in training today. The French defender has struggled with injuries for the last few years and will need some more time to improve his conditioning before he can actually make an impact for Real Madrid on the field, though.
It should be noted that Mendy did not make Real Madrid’s list for this edition of the UEFA Champions League, so he will not be able to play in the European competition. The club will have another opportunity to register him after the end of the winter’s transfer window.
Mendy’s return would increase Mourinho’s options for the defensive line. However, he should not be relied upon and trusting him to play minutes on a consistent basis this season could be too optimistic.
