McManaman Denies Link With Arsenal

Real Madrid's former England international Steve McManaman has denied reports linking him with a move to Arsenal.

The former Liverpool winger has often been linked with a return to the Premiership, but has always insisted his is happy at the Bernabeu despite rarely featuring in the first team.

He said: "I don't know where these rumours have come from because it's news to me."

"There's always talk in England that I want to leave Real Madrid when I'm not playing in every game."

"When you play for one of the best teams in the world and you're not getting first-team action people are always going to be talking about you and speculating on your future."

"That's not taking anything away from Arsenal. They are a great team and play fantastic football - along with Man United they play some of the best football in Europe - but right now I am very happy here at Real Madrid."

The 30-year-old added that he intends to see out his contract with the European Champions, saying: "I've still got a year-and-a-half left on my contract at Real Madrid and my intention is to see out that contract to its end."
