Mayoral gunning for Madrid chance

Borja Mayoral feels he is ready to be given a shot in the Real Madrid first team following Karim Benzema’s hamstring injury.

The teenage striker fired Spain Under-19s to European glory in July and trained with Los Blancos’ seniors during preseason, making substitute appearances against Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Valerenga.

"I hope so [referring to whether he will get his chance]," he told Marca.

"It’s always an honour to represent your country, but traveling with the first team and playing in an official game is also a dream."

"I know that Castilla are my team, but it’s true that now, with Benzema injured, I may have a chance [in the first team]."

"It was a dream to have made my Real Madrid debut during preseason, and now I’ll fight hard to make my official debut."
