Mauro Zarate’s Agent Quashes Real Madrid Rumours

The Zarate Kid’s representative has reassured the Laziali faithful that he will not be leaving the Stadio Olimpico any time soon.

There were reports yesterday that Real Madrid had pinpointed Mauro Zarate as the best possible replacement for injured striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Argentine sensation has allegedly become the Merengues’ main transfer target, according to Spanish media, but his brother and agent Sergio has rushed to deny the whispers.

“Lazio supporters can sit back and relax, as this paper talk is simply absurd,” he is quoted as saying on Lazialità.it.

“I will never get tired of repeating that my brother is only thinking about this club [Lazio] and keen to achieve great things here."

“We spoke with president Claudio Lotito a few weeks ago, and there is nothing to add at the moment. Mauro is fully focused on the pitch, as I am on his future that is and will be biancoceleste.”

The Formello-based side are expected to purchase his full rights from Qatar club Al-Saad by April 30, 2009, and Lotito also had reassuring words last night.

“Roma fans are making fun of us already, but I can promise I will take up that option, there is no doubt about it,” he clarified during Rai TV show ‘Carramba Che Fortuna’.
