Maradona Was My Idol, Admits Roberto Carlos

Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos has revealed that his biggest idol was Argentina's ex-midfielder Diego Armando Maradona and not his countryman Pelé, known, especially in Brazil as the "King of Football".

"It might sound weird, being Brazilian, that my biggest idol has always been Maradona, the greatest of all. Among the Brazilians, Pelé has always been my idol, but I saw Diego playing and he has always impressed me."

The Real Madrid ace added that Maradona was a true "phenomenon".
