Manchester United Face Competition From Real Madrid For Tevez's Signature

Los Blancos have already contacted the Argentine's owners.

It was reported yesterday that Manchester United were finally set to stave off any interest in Argentina international forward Carlos Tevez by signing him on a permanent basis.

However, according to British tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror, Real Madrid are prepared to match the Red Devils’ offer for the player nicknamed 'Apache'.

Apparently, United are prepared to pay the €34.5 million (£30m) the 25-year-old's owners, MSI (Media Sports Investments), are asking for, plus €86,000-a-week (£75,000) in wages.

It is reported that Los Merengues are willing to match, and perhaps even better, the European champions.

Both Florentino Perez and Juan Villalonga, candidates for the Real Madrid presidency, are said to have already contacted MSI to begin negotiations for the striker.

With the likes of Raul, Gonzalo Higuan, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Ruud van Nistelrooy in their ranks, in addition to the in-form Arjen Robben, it is questionable as to whether Los Blancos would be willing to pay the huge sum for another forward.
