Manchester United cleared to seal £63m James Rodriguez transfer after Real Madrid decide to sell star

Manchester United’s hopes of signing James Rodriguez this summer have been handed a significant boost after Real Madrid reportedly decided to sell the Colombian.

The 24-year-old moved to the Bernabeu over Old Trafford after dazzling audiences with his performances for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup.

The former Monaco man was pivotal in his opening season with the Spanish giants and starred as they won their tenth European Cup.

However, Rodriguez’s situation has soured in the last six months and he was booed when he was substituted in the side’s 1-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

Ed Woodward, United’s executive vice-chairman, is desperate to make a ‘statement’ signing and Marca claim that the path has been cleared for the Red Devils to snap Rodriguez up for £63million this summer – in what they claim would be the biggest deal of the window.
