However, according to Diario SPORT, there is a possibility Kroos may continue playing, but not at the Santiago Bernabeu. This is because Manchester City are attempting to make a shock move for the German superstar.
Kroos’ current deal at the Bernabeu expires at the end of the season, meaning he is free to negotiate with any club in January, over a pre-contract agreement.
Manchester City are using this opportunity to lure the German into trying his luck in the Premier League. They are aware of the fact that Kroos has appeared apprehensive about accepting a renewal at Real Madrid so far and is currently in no hurry to make a decision.
Manchester City are ready to lure him in by offering him a staggering €13-14 million per season, which would be an improvement on his current salary of around €9 million per year.
Man City’s desire to sign the German is hardly surprising as the club are likely to part ways with Ilkay Gundogan. The former Dortmund starlet’s departure should create a massive void in the midfield department and that is where the Real Madrid superstar comes into the fray.
Kroos already shares a good relationship with Pep Guardiola, having played under him at Bayern Munich in the past.
However, the former German international star has revealed his desire to retire at Real Madrid time and time again in the past. And it would only come as a surprise to see him join any other club in the near future.
