Man Utd will double Salgado's Real Madrid wages

The agent of Real Madrid fullback Michel Salgado has confirmed the interest of Manchester United.

Gines Carvajal says United are willing to double Salgado's current £1 million-a-year salary to move to Old Trafford next season.

Salgado is yet to open new contract talks with Real, with his current deal expiring at the end of this season.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan of the Spanish international, rating him one of the best fullbacks in Europe.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also keen, but United are said to have the inside-running for the defender.
