Man Utd watch as Owen closer to Real Madrid exit

Michael Owen's return to the Premiership is a step closer after Real Madrid completed the signing of Santos star Robinho last night.
 
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are now possible destinations for the England striker.

Owen, rated at £12m, finds himself fourth choice at Madrid behind Raul, Ronaldo and Robinho.

And it could get worse for the 25-year-old former Liverpool favourite as Real have been linked to yet another striker, Deportivo star Albert Luque.

Owen is privately known to want to come home, says the Mirror.

Liverpool chiefs were ready to welcome him with open arms before boss Rafa Benitez vetoed the move.

Now Manchester United are favourites to land him - as long as boss Sir Alex Ferguson can unload injury-hit French flop Louis Saha.
