Man Utd to go for Real Madrid's Solari in January

Manchester United are expected to move for Real Madrid midfielder Santiago Solari in January.

The Argentina international is inside the final year of his present Real contract and can sign a pre-contract with United from January 1.

Marca says United assistant boss Carlos Queiroz urged the club to go for Solari this summer and a bid was being prepared for the left-sided midfielder this week.

But after Solari featured in Wednesday night's Champions League qualifier, so Cup-tying him, United chose to hold fire and instead will return for the player when the winter transfer window opens.

However, Real are considering re-signing Solari, with talks said to be prepared for as early as this week.
