Man Utd target Salgado tells Real Madrid: I know my value

Michel Salgado has admitted now is the time to begin new contract talks with Real Madrid.

With Manchester United waiting in the wings, the Spanish international fullback told AS: "Now is my moment. It is the last year of my contract and I finish on the 30th of June."

"I will be a free player and of course that is the time to ask. I am not going to do it when I have two years of my contract left, that is clear. It is all about supply and demand..."

He added, "I have an idea of what I am worth, perhaps the club thinks something different. But I have never asked for anything. I am happy with my present contract."

"But once that finishes, then it is time to ask and things change. We will have to see what the club offers."
