Man Utd still in frame for Real Madrid No1 Casillas

Manchester United are still in the frame for Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who produced a five-star display on Sunday against Barcelona.

Casillas is still to open serious negotiations over a new contract at Real, with his current deal having just over a year to run.

DiarioSport says Real president Florentino Perez isn't a fan of Casillas, who came through the club's youth system and is a hero to the Real support.

Perez would prefer to sell Casillas in the summer to a foreign club, but his performances are pressuring the club supremo to offer him new terms.

A preliminary offer has been made, but it falls well short of Casillas' demands and a counter offer from United is said to be worth over double the Spaniard's existing deal.

As long as Perez is prepared to keep Casillas waiting on a new contract, speculation will continue about the 24 year-old's future - which could have a negative affect on Real's late season title push.
