Man Utd outright favourites to land Real Madrid's Makelele

Manchester United remain favourites to sign Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele, despite fresh interest from Italian giants Inter Milan and AS Roma.

United are said to be in advanced talks regarding the French international, who recently saw talks over a new Real deal collapse.

Inter could nominate Makelele as the player they want to complete the deal that took Ronaldo to Madrid. But the final decision will be left to Makelele and indications are that if he is to leave Spain, he favours a move to England over Italy.
