Man Utd linked as Real Madrid push for Cannavaro

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has given the green light to coach Jose Antonio Camacho's bid to sign Inter Milan defender Fabio Cannavaro.

Perez has already opened talks with Inter Milan and the player's agent and hopes to wrap up a deal quickly - perhaps as early as this week.

AS says Cannavaro has also been contacted by Manchester United, but his ambition is to join Real Madrid and to play out his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real will offer the Italy captain a three-year contract and will meet Inter's £6.5 million asking price for the 31 year-old.
