Man Utd eye Real Madrid's Makelele, Solari, Portillo in Beckham swap

Real Madrid are ready to offer Manchester United players in part-exchange for David Beckham.

United value the midfielder at around £38 million, but Real know the Premiership giants are interested in several of their players and would be open to a swap deal.

Real president Florentino Perez will not pay more than £25 million for the England skipper.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen on Real midfielders Claude Makelele, Santiago Solari and young striker Javier Portillo.

Both Makelele and Solari will be made available in the summer, however Perez is likely to baulk if United demand Portillo be included in the deal.

AS says a first round of talks between Real and Beckham's advisors has already been held.

It's reported that Beckham has told the Spanish giants that he would happily take a pay-cut to come in-line with the club's wage structure.
