Man Utd consider Real Madrid's Ruud offer

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is preparing to receive a £30 million offer from Real Madrid for striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Sun says there has been frantic activity between Real, Van Nistelrooy's agent and United during Euro 2004. Fergie knows an offer is imminent and a big decision has to be made.

Dutchman Van Nistelrooy does not want to get involved in any talks until Holland are out of Euro 2004.

Ferguson doesn't want to lose Van Nistelrooy, but has been told by his board that he must fund his own bid for Everton striker Wayne Rooney.

United directors won't go higher than £22 million for the England star, but Everton are refusing to sell for anything less than £30 million.

Van Nistelrooy is 28 on July 1. And if United get £30m for him it will be seen as good business when they then get 18-year-old Rooney in his place.
