Man Utd chief Gill: Ronaldo will start season here

Manchester United chief David Gill insists the club expects Cristiano Ronaldo to start the season in a Red shirt.
 
United are unconcerned by the abuse he is likely to be subjected to by opposition supporters next season, should he return to England.

Having weathered the storm that accompanied David Beckham in the wake of his red card during the 1998 World Cup, when the former United midfielder was vilified by opposition fans, United are well versed in coping with any off-field problems.

Gill said: "Cristiano Ronaldo is our player and we expect him back for pre-season training. He's got a contract until 2010 and why wouldn't we expect him to be back here?"
