Man Utd boss loses cool over Beckham questions

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson snapped at American journalists after being asked about the controversial sale of David Beckham.

Ferguson was asked of he had any words for the Seattle public who had been looking forward to seeing Beckham play.

He angrily responded: "No, no words at all."

United director Sir Bobby Charlton attempted to play down the incident later in the day: "You always have some people who don't agree when a player leaves."

"Some people do not trust the manager - but he knows what he's doing, make no mistake about that. And we back him."

"I've never doubted Sir Alex's judgment."

"And David made a lot of decisions about his own future. We were not the only ones making the decisions."

"However, we will be judged on results - like any other club. I'm sure if we lose the first five games of the new season everyone will go crazy about us selling Beckham."

"But David is just one player. He has left - and that is that."
