Man Utd boss adamant Ronaldo won't be sold

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson won't consider selling Cristiano Ronaldo - no matter how much the player protests.

Ronaldo has instructed his agent, Jorge Mendes, to plot a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona, but the Daily Mail says Ferguson is adamant he will not be allowed to leave and will reject any moves by new Real president Ramon Calderon to capitalise on the 21-year-old's unrest.

 
It's also been suggested should Real make a persistent push for the Portugal international, United will take the matter to FIFA such is their determination to hold onto the winger.

Ferguson will take a tough line with Ronaldo and remind him that only last November he signed a contract extension which ties him to Old Trafford until 2010.

"I'm not going to stay at Manchester United," Ronaldo said on Saturday night. "After what happened with Rooney I can't remain there. In a couple of days I'll have my future sorted out and I want to go to Real Madrid.

"To be honest it has been difficult to think about continuing in England. They're making a storm in a teacup. It's difficult to return to a country where you're not welcome.

"For some time I haven't had any support from my chief executive or my coach. They should have come out in my defence but no one did. Neither of them has backed me.

"My agent will meet the United chief executive to sort out my situation, but everyone knows it is my dream to play in Spain. Will it be Madrid or Barcelona? They are two clubs I like and it will be one of them. I know I've done a good job and I've grown a lot in this World Cup, from a physical point of view and a mental one. In the next few seasons I'll be even better."
