Man Utd, Arsenal in for Real Madrid's Helguera

A host of Premiership clubs are chasing Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera.
 
Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle are all tracking the Spain international, who will be available on a free at the end of the season when his current deal expires.

Helguera, 30, is furious with Real chiefs for stalling on offering him a new contract.

And he plans to quit the Bernabeu in the summer.

He said: "With the way things are I see myself more on the way out than staying at Madrid."

Helguera, who usually operates just in front of the defence and is a superb passer of the ball, has a number of offers on the table from top clubs across Europe.

Barcelona and Juventus are in the chase but he favours the Premiership.
