Man City linked with £10M move for Real Madrid's McManaman

Manchester City are ready to launch a major bid for Real Madrid midfielder Steve McManaman.

City boss Kevin Keegan is a big fan of the England international and the Star on Sunday says a £10 million is being prepared.

However, Real chief Jorge Valdano could allow McManaman to leave the club for significantly less following comments made during January's transfer window.

Valdano admitted McManaman was one of several fringe players available for transfer as the Spanish giants sought to trim their wage bill.

In the Spanish press, it's been suggested this season that Real would be happy to give McManaman a free transfer if he agreed to leave in the summer.
