Makelele joins Real Madrid's growing injury list

Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele became the latest addition to the club's lengthening injury list after straining a thigh muscle during Saturday's goalless draw at lowly Recreativo Huelva.

The club said the French international will have tests on Monday to confirm the extent of the injury and is doubtful for next week's Champions League, second leg against Juventus.

Real already have a host of injury worries ahead of Wednesday's decisive match in Turin after Real won last week's first leg 2-1 at the Bernabeu.

Midfielders Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo, and strikers Ronaldo and Raul did not play against Recreativo because of injury problems.

Zidane is suffering from back pain and Figo has a minor groin strain.

The club says Ronaldo has only a slim chance of playing in Turin after injuring his calf during Tuesday's first leg.

Fellow striker Raul is expected to be available for the Champions League match, but was also left out of the squad for the trip to Huelva as he recovers from an appendix operation.
