Makelele Issues Fresh Real Quit Threat

Claude Makelele is increasingly unsettled by his personal situation at Real Madrid. The French midfielder has been asking for a new contract but faced his Board's stonewalling as only answer.

"If I'm not given a new contract, then I will listen to offers from other clubs", Makelele told the press. "I don't see why I should hang around here much longer while I could be paid what I'm worth elsewhere", he added.

Makelele's agents found an agreement with president Florentino Perez to let the player go if a offer in the region of €10m landed on Real's desk.
