Makelele: I quit Real Madrid for Chelsea cash

Former Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele has admitted he joined Chelsea in August purely for money.

The French international left Real in controversial circumstances after pushing for over 12 months for the Spanish giants to improve his contract.

"I cannot deny that my move to Chelsea was motivated by what they offered," admitted Makelele.

"If Real had offered just half of what Chelsea offered I would have gladly stayed."
