Makelele has already agreed on new Real Madrid deal

Real Madrid has secured an agreement with Claude Makelele over a new contract extension, it has been revealed.

The French international has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Inter Milan since the end of last season.

However, reports today state Makelele and Real reached an agreement in September in Monaco over an improved deal.

Real sports chief Jorge Valdano had initially refused Makelele's request before the World Cup, but had a change of mind in September and agreed to the new deal which will reflect the success the Frenchman has brought Real over the past two seasons.

Terms have already been struck and it has been agreed Makelele will sign the deal in June.
