Madrid Want To Tie Up Casillas For Life

According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Real Madrid are eager to extend Iker Casillas' contract beyond 2011.

Iker Casillas will remain at Real Madrid for life, at least if the club hierarchy has any say in the matter.

That's the view of Marca, who report today that the Bernabeu outfit is keen to extend the goalkeeper's current deal beyond its expiration date of summer 2011.

Iker himself was said to be in no particular hurry to extend his present deal, given that it has three and a half years still to run, but now Marca reports that this could change.

The Spanish international goalie wishes to retire at the capital side, and at the age of 26, there's still plenty of his career left to run.

Thus Madrid are set to capitalise on this feeling by offering Casillas a mammoth contract extension in due course, with 12 million euros (gross) per year said to be the target figure.

Casillas broke through to the Real Madrid first team in 1999/2000 and has remained first choice ever since.
