Madrid support to vent frustration

Real Madrid’s supporters will give their verdict on their team’s poor start to the season in Wednesday’s encounter with Lokomotiv Moscow.

The Merengues’ first home match in the group stage will serve as an opportunity for the fans to show how they feel.

Prices for the first round of European matches have been kept down, but the notoriously fickle Real Madrid following may show their disapproval by staying away in numbers. Those that do attend could well give the white-shirted wonders a cold reception.

Hopes were high as the Centenary season began, but the only high point so far for the eight-times European Champions has been last week’s 2-1 win over AS Roma.

Visitors Lokomotiv, meanwhile, with 24 league matches played, are second in the Russian league, only a point behind leaders and city neighbours Spartak, and will be arriving in the Spanish capital optimistic of taking away at least a point.
