Madrid Selling €880 Tickets For Liverpool Clash

Some Real Madrid fans are willing to pay €880 for admission to the impending match against Liverpool.

The best seats for Real Madrid's Champions League clash with Liverpool in the Bernabéu will sell for a pricey €880, according to The Mirror.

Los Blancos are already doing a roaring trade; their 79,400 capacity stadium and a high demand to see the team in action has made them the richest club in Europe in terms of ticket sales, ahead of Manchester United.

Interest in the continental tie against the Reds is apparently through the roof on account of the Premier League side's Spanish contingent, including boss Rafael Benitez, a Madrid native.

Madrid spokesman Javier Cano told the newspaper that the expensive tickets are actually pitched at wealthy and important guests hit hard by the current financial crisis. Such guests will still have some of the best seats in the house, even if they can't afford a VIP box.

Cano added: "We expect a lot of interest for this match."

He also revealed that those who purchase a €880 brief for the first leg match will get a free scarf. Bargain!

All tickets for the match are expected to change hands for ridiculous sums as the hype builds.

The match-up is one of the most intriguing in the last-16, despite the England vs. Italy aspect elsewhere. Both sides are European giants, of course, and appear to be fairly evenly matched on paper.
