Madrid put TV rights to Beckham medical on sale

Real Madrid are attempting to sell the television rights to David Beckham’s medical.

The England captain is due to undergo the medical at a private clinic in Madrid on Tuesday before being presented as Real’s new star signing the following day.

The examination will be covered live by Real Madrid’s own television station. Yesterday, Ignacio Frauca, managing director of the network, said: "The filming of the medical is the exclusive right of Real Madrid Television. There is great interest from British television. But just what we do with the film report has still to be finalised."

"Yes we could sell it exclusive if the right offer comes along. No other television will be allowed into the clinic for the medical which will take about half an hour and will be carried-out by a team of specialists."

"We will be showing it live. If the right offer is made we will sell it to a British network on an exclusive basis."

The daily sports newspaper, Marca, reported that Sky News was "prepared to throw the house out of the window" to get the rights.

Meanwhile, Paris St Germain coach Vahid Halilhodzic has revealed that the cash-strapped club are now willing to negotiate the sale of Ronaldinho.

Paul Gascoigne’s agent Wes Saunders has blamed an argument over money for the former Rangers star’s stand-off with Chinese club Gansu Tianma.

Saunders, who used to play for Dundee, said: "Paul hasn’t gone back to China simply because there are outstanding issues about money owed to him and until those are resolved he’ll be staying put."
