Madrid Need A Quality Striker

Getafe president and self-confessed Real Madrid fan, Ángel Torres believes that Los Blancos need to acquire a world class target striker if they are to stand a chance of winning the Champions League.

Ángel Torres, president of Real Madrid’s baby-sister club Getafe, praised the quality and depth in the Bernabéu dressing room, but he believes that Bernd Schuster’s side is still lacking something to win the Champions League.

“I have seen very little of Real Madrid this year, but I saw them play against Juventus in Turin,” he told reporters during a gala in the capital city.

“They were very poor in the first half, although they were much better in the second."

“They have a lot of quality in their squad and for that reason, they are where they are today. But they still need a top target striker if they want to win the Champions League,” offered Torres.

Madrid do have one of the most statistically lethal strikers in the world today in Ruud Van Nistelrooy but Los Merengues have shown an over-reliance in the Dutchman in recent games.

However, the team, and the rest of their forwards, will be put to the test on Sunday when they take on Athletic Bilbao without the services of Van Gol.
