Macca rejects Arsenal switch - Reports

Steve McManaman has turned down an offer to return to England with Arsenal, according to reports in Spain on Monday.

Spanish daily 'AS' reports Arsenal contacted Real 10 days ago with an offer worth around £3million to the player, but the 29-year-old turned the move down.

The England midfielder has decided to hang on with Real, despite facing the possibility he will have few chances of keeping a regular place in the side this season following the club's capture of Zinedine Zidane.

Real are keen to offload at least one of their left-sided players and reduce their wage bill, saying they would listen to offers for both McManaman and Savio Bortolini.

McManaman found himself in a similar predicament last year after the arrival of Luis Figo but stayed in Madrid and regained his place in the team.
