Luxemburgo: We need discipline at Real Madrid

New Real Madrid coach Wanderlei Luxemburgo revealed he turned down a new contract offer from Santos to move to Spain.

"During the last week I negotiated with Santos. But Madrid was the opportunity of my professional life and they understood it perfectly. They did not make any problems for me," said Luxemburgo.

"My culture is Brazilian football, with its technique and quality. But it's important to also acknowledge the discipline that is needed to produce good football."

"The team must be strong and play well, but it's also important to always work hard."

Asked about closing the gap between themselves and Liga leaders Barcelona, he added: "In football anything is possible."

"It is important to work hard. The players must understand that we need to put everything into closing the gap."
