Liverpool wait on Figo to negotiate Real Madrid pay-off

Liverpool are now waiting on Luis Figo to negotiate a pay-out from the final year of his contract at Real Madrid.

The Reds agreed a £60,000-a-week contract almost two weeks ago with Figo, only to be told that Real Madrid would not allow the Portugal winger to move unless Liverpool paid a £2 million transfer fee.

Liverpool have persuaded Real to drop the demand, but are waiting while Figo, 32, negotiates a settlement for the final year of his contract.
