Liverpool target Munitis tears Real Madrid apart

They pay 70 per cent of his wages, but Pedro Munitis had no problem in ripping Real Madrid apart yesterday as Racing Santander shocked the European champs 2-0.

Munitis scored and was judged man-of-the-match in a superb display from the Spanish international winger, who is on-loan from Real Madrid.

"I had a desire to score and to produce a good performance," said Munitis.

"My goal was a good one, although I wasn't obsessive about scoring because we're talking about Real Madrid here! I was only focused on playing well and luckily things worked out well for me."

"We deserved to win and I think anyone watching would agree."

Munitis, a target for Liverpool, admitted during the week that he hoped to stay in Gerard Houllier's thoughts by playing well leading up to January's transfer window.

Real Madrid wing-back Robert Carlos added, "Pedro Munitis is a terrific player and the truth is that Real Madrid is weaker without him."

"From now on, it's crucial the players work hard to put our house in order."
