Liverpool step up interest for Real Madrid's want-away Guti

A Liverpool representative is set to hold talks with the agent of Real Madrid midfielder Guti this week.
 
Colin Pomford, who works for several Premiership clubs in Spain, will meet with Guti's agent, Zoran Vekic, to discuss a potential switch to Anfield this summer.

Spanish international Guti has already declared his intentions to move from Real Madrid over the close-season in pursuit of regular first team football.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is a big fan of the midfielder and if he indicates to Pomford that he is interested in a move to England, the European champs will immediately approach Real Madrid with a firm offer, says AS.

Guti has contract until 2008 and a buyout clause of £27 million, but Madrid would negotiate for the midfielder at a starting point of £15 million.
