Liverpool set to close deal for Real Madrid's Owen

Liverpool are set to close a loan deal for Real Madrid striker Michael Owen.
 
The Mirror says Liverpool have made progress in their attempt to thrash out an agreement with Real Madrid, and are now hopeful of tying up a deal.

The Spanish side want £10million straight cash for the striker they signed from Anfield for £8m just a year ago. But Liverpool have proposed a deal with Real where they will take Owen on loan initially, and then meet the full asking price in a year's time.

The Spanish outfit still owe around £3m to the Anfield club from their deal a year ago, and that will be deducted from the fee.
