Liverpool's Xabi won't be tempted by Real Madrid

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso insists he will follow manager Rafa Benitez's lead by snubbing overtures from Real Madrid.

The midfield ace is a summer target for the Spanish giants.

Alonso, 24, turned down Real before joining Liverpool in a £12.5million deal two seasons ago from Real Sociedad - and he has no regrets.

He said: "I believe in the end the possibility of playing for Liverpool was a better choice and I'm very happy."

"The people appreciate me and the club is right behind me. I hope to stay here for many years."
